Momma is looking to lease Taz… WOOOOOOO! Joy has been phenomenal. Oh my gosh. We have been spending a lot of time on groundwork and lounge lining and lord all mighty I think I have the perfect horse!!! Shes gotten so long and relaxed working on the line its incredible. Ive been riding her in a halter too and she is super relaxed with that as well. Plus it helps keep me more aware of my leg cues rather than going straight to the bit.. Getting super good at change of direction on the line which is in turn helping her balance under saddle. Im just so lucky to have such a wonderful pony :) Plus shes pretty <3
Pointless Praddle about the horse..
Well it almost summer! Which means no more day riding. I am going to be switching to the night barn shifts because the rest of the day is too hot! Ill probably cut back on my riding and go back to groundwork for a while.. If anything ill just hop on bareback a few times a week.. Joy has had problems with her right lead since we starting riding. Very frustrating and we seem to have finally corrected the situation. (Its amazing what a roll-back will do.) Anyways thats exciting and we are just starting to dip our toes into flying lead changes. Not trying very hard though as she is still getting comfy with her simple lead changes. Though I have to say she is quite good at them now! Im thinking of investing in some nice supple draw-reins since we are still using them with her and the ones I have been borrowing I cannot use without a pair of gloves on or else my hands become shredded. Went on a trail ride this morning with my mom and had a conversation about endurance riding. Since we both like trails and since both the horses love them we are going to look into it… Arizona is rumored to have some awesome rides up north a bit.. So Id like to see where that will go. Joyful is still on her pound of rice bran daily and is surprisingly not getting tubby but actually maintaining her weight? Which you wouldnt think because her work load isnt overly strenuous. Oh well as long as she isnt fat I dont care! Shes pretty much completely shed out her winter coat. Im shocked there is any hair left after the amount I had to curry off!!! But shes just so glossy in the sun now :) Oh I dont know if I ever mentioned this, not like anyone reads it anyway BUT about two or three months ago we started her in a joint injection.. Its real easy just in the neck but I have started giving her those the first of every month. Shes always been real puffy in her legs because of her slopy pasturnes and praise the lord above the shot is working! Her front legs are NORMAL! Now clearly I have to thank my farrier a whole bunch because he shaped them up all pretty and pushed back the toe so her heel could build up but the point is its getting better! Now we have her on all four leg support boots because for a while she really did need it but since her front are looking awesome Itold mom that next time the vet is out we should see if we can just move to hind support since she shreds through the hind twice as fast as the front. So therefore it would be the same as just getting a set of four instead of what we are doing now which is the set of four plus another hind pair. That might not back sense but it would save an extra $90 every three months. Her mane is growing out real nicely also. Not past her neck yet but at least now I have something to work with. Plus in another month or two it should be at or just past the neck. On the downside she has taken a new liking to itching her butt on her stall wall which is brick and so she is beginning to rub out her tail! YAY. This was a big update and I dont expect anyone to read it I really just do these for myself..
My Thoughts While Cleaning Stalls
Me:
God this horse is such a pig.
Me: Like why is it necessary to spread hay around your entire stall. Me: This is gonna take me like an hour. Me: The next horse I have is going to be the most cleanly creature on the face of the planet. Me: God this horse pees like a racehorse. Me: Hah, wait. He is a racehorse. Me: I'm hilarious. Me: God this is so dusty. Me: These shavings are shit. Me: My nose. My nose has so much shit in it right now. Me: He better appreciate this. Me: He's probably having the time of his life outside right now. And I'm here, slaving away for him. Me: I wonder if he knows how much I do for him. Me: I wonder if horses know how much we do for them in general. Me: I wonder if anyone knows how much anyone does for them. Me: What is the meaning of life. Me: What happens when we die? Me: How will I die? Me: What if I die on the way home? Me: Who will be at my funeral? Me: God seriously why must this horse circle so much. Me: It's bullshit, really. Me: Actually it's horse shit. Get it? Eh? Me: Nobody would find that funny but me. Me: Should I add more shavings? Me: Look at this stall, it's beautiful.
Mahhhh
Weeeeell JOy is having a set back. Shes not hurt or anything but has an awful attitude towards riding all of the sudden. I think she is physically sore so I am thinking of having a lady at my barn who does massage therapy for horses work on her.. We have currently three horses we are taking care of and paying for in various ways. Joy, Raven, and Taz. Mom has taken on the responsibly of the boys though :) So I am just spending lots of time with my girly. PROM saturday. Hope I dont make a fool of myself. Theme is the roaring 20s and my date fully intends on following the theme… :/ Im worried. Anyways this was just a nice light post.. Ill have pictures put up soon of Joy and I ! Joyful is shedding out so beautifully. She has dapples popping up all over her and just looks awesome! She is even starting to collect herself naturally when we lunge which is always nice.. Mom had her appendix removed so she is out for riding for another 4 weeks. However we have a new horse at the ranch who she has just fallen in love with and is taking care of. So when she goes to the barn by herself she takes care of Joy, Raven, and Taz(new man). Its so funny
damn people!
For the love of God just get over yourself already. Seriously im embarrassed for you! Stop being so damn pathetic and move on with your life! |
